IP MAN 3 (2015)


Ip Man 3 can be a 2015 Hong Kong biographical martial arts training film directed by Wilson Yip, created by Raymond Wong and published by Edmond Wong with action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping. It is the third from the Ip Man film series in accordance with the life from the Wing Chun grandmaster Yip Man and features Donnie Yen reprising the title role. The film also stars Mike Tyson, and Yip Man's pupil Bruce Lee is portrayed by Danny Chan. Principal photography commenced in March 2015 and resulted in June that year. The premiere on the film premiered in Hong Kong on 16 December 2015, and officially released in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia on 24 December 2015. It opened in Taiwan on 31 December 2015, New Zealand and United Kingdom on 15 January 2016 the other week later in Australia. It was released inside United States on 22 January 2016, and premiered in mainland China on 4 March 2016. The film received positive reviews and eight Hong Kong Film Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Director.

Plot

In 1959, Ip Man (Donnie Yen) is settling into his low-profile life in Hong Kong. The film starts with Ip Man practicing his techniques over a wooden dummy, to be a moth, foreshadowing the long term, gently flutters and visits the dummy.

The opening subtitles explain that his elder son, Ip Chun, has returned to Foshan to check, leaving him in reference to his younger son Ip Ching with his fantastic wife Wing-sing.

A young Bruce Lee visits Ip and asks to get one of his students. After Lee demonstrates his speed to Ip, Ip neither accepts nor rejects him and tells him to "come back later". Ip Ching sometimes appears fighting with another boy, Cheung Fung, in school, and both boys end up having minor injuries. Wing-sing, in addition to Ip, is asked by Miss Wong, the boys' teacher, to make the school. As an apology, the Ip family invite Cheung Fung with their home for supper. At Ip's house, Cheung Fung displays rudimentary yet impressive Wing Chun skills. When Ip asks the boy who his mentor is, he states that it's his father, Cheung Tin-chi. Cheung appears to get his son after that.

Cheung is viewed participating in underground boxing matches inside them for hours a streak of victories. The organiser, Ma King-sang, the local triad leader, also works well with Frank (Mike Tyson), an American property developer. Frank orders Ma to secure a piece of land occupied by the teachers where Ip Ching and Cheung Fung study. Ma requests a month so that it is done, but is threatened into assuring that it'll be done within fourteen days. Meanwhile, Frank is stunned at Cheung's Wing Chun skills.

The following day, when Ip goes to grab his son at school, he witnesses Ma with his fantastic men coercing and beating the headmaster, who won't sell them the teachers. Ip interferes and restrains Ma, but is forced permit Ma go as Ma's men're holding Miss Wong at knife point. Ip seeks the help of Sergeant Po (called Fat Po by his friends), a detailed friend of his and a neighborhood police detective. Fat Po agrees to aid Ip, but claims a shortage of manpower and influence. Ip then agrees to guard the college alongside his students.

That night, Ip and his awesome students watch the teachers compound. Lik, Ip's oldest student, develops a crush on Miss Wong, though the latter promptly rejects his advances. Realizing that that it was getting late, Ip suggests Lik along with the other students return home; however, soon after that, Ma's men invade the compound. Although Ip and the students have the ability to hold them under control, these are still outnumbered since the gang is able to kidnap the headmaster and hang fire to a couple classrooms. Cheung, who transpires with pass by, helps protect against the invaders and rescues the headmaster. Cheung's skills impress Ip, and Ip thanks Cheung for his help.

Tin Ngo-san, a local martial arts training master and Ma's former mentor, is enraged by Ma's unscrupulous acts, and coupled with Ip, confronts Ma in the Hong Kong shipyard and slaps him when in front of his men. Ma retaliates that has a hidden knife, but Ip has the capacity to stop him from nearly stabbing Tin and again restrains him. Fat Po arrives and keeps the situation under control, but Ip eventually lets Ma visit deescalate the matter.

Humiliated, Ma finds Cheung and will be offering him work: to obtain revenge against Tin on his behalf. Desperate for money to look at his own fighting techinques school, Cheung accepts the offer. Meanwhile, Wing-sing is diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Cheung, whose face is hidden having a bandanna, finds Tin as part of his umbrella shop and proceeds to combat him, with Tin failing to defend himself against his assailant's swift blows, and ends up from the hospital that has a broken arm. Ip gets to be a call from a medical facility and visits Tin. Upon learning that Tin failed to call him, Ip realises that that it was a set-up by Ma to lure him away from the varsity, to ensure that his gang could kidnap some on the students, including Ip Ching and Cheung Fung. Ip comes to Ma's shipyard in the middle of Ma's men. Ma, who's holding Ip Ching at knife point, threatens to market the kids to slavery if your headmaster still will not surrender the college. Upon learning that his son had also been kidnapped, Cheung arrives, picks him up, and promptly leaves; but after his son tells him that "his friends remain there", he returns and fights alongside Ip. Ip and Cheung have the ability to hold their unique, until a troop of policemen led by Fat Po involves arrest the gang, while Ma flees. Ma is later fired by Frank following your incident, which is replaced by the proficient Thai boxer to search after Ip instead.

Returning home, Ip is relayed through Wing-sing about her condition, and this she may live for six more months. While taking Wing-sing for the clinic, Ip is attacked with the Thai boxer, that is promptly defeated after a couple of moves. Wing-sing, despite being happy about Ip's decision to accompany her, makes an appointment with Cheung for one more match on Ip's behalf, as she knew that Ip could have attended otherwise for her condition.

Wing-sing accompanies Ip towards the fight. They first fight with Six as well as a Half Point Poles, which Ip and Cheung fight to some standstill. They then fight with Butterfly swords, with Ip seeming to win narrowly. When Cheung loses his swords, Ip throws his away, plus they proceed to combat without weapons. They both seem evenly matched, with both being capable of deliver several blows to the other. However, Cheung successfully lands a blow to Ip's right eye, temporarily blinding him. Cheung's victory seemed certain, but Ip evades Cheung's following hits regarding his hearing, and counters Cheung which has a one-inch punch, despite not being in a position to see. Defeated, Cheung relinquishes his title since the Grandmaster of Wing Chun, and chooses to destroy the banner that proclaimed himself for being the Grandmaster. Ip then remarks that "What's most significant are the ones nearest to us", leaving.

In the epilogue, it can be revealed that Wing-sing died in 1960, understanding that Ip helped make Wing Chun popular internationally and made a legacy.

Release

Ip Man 3 was published in Hong Kong on 24 December 2015, and Malaysia and Singapore. Earlier, that it was scheduled to get a 2016 release. The film stood a limited release in New Zealand on 25 December 2015, followed using a wide release in Taiwan on 31 December 2015, plus a limited release from the United States on 22 January 2016. It was already released in mainland China on 4 March.

A teaser trailer was launched on Pegasus Motion Pictures YouTube channel on 30 September 2015.
